I’m George Itzhak, a cinematographer, editor, and filmmaker skilled at crafting engaged character-driven film & TV projects that visually bold and editorially solid.
I’m currently based in Prague, Czech Republic, where I’m pursuing a Master’s in Cinematography at FAMU (the Czech national film school). I am available for collaboration and assignments worldwide. You can take a look at my CV here and contact me at georgeitzhak@gmail.com.
I have created impactful work in a variety of formats: documentaries, news features, dance films, music videos, extended interviews, podcasts, and scripted narratives. My technical and creative skills allow me to take a project from start to finish and leave my signature on the entire creative process.
My work has premiered at film festivals worldwide and earned Emmy & Webby Nominations, along with a New York Press Club Award.
I spent the first part of my career in television news & documentary, in New York. As a producer for NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, I was able to travel the U.S. and the world in pursuit of captivating visual stories that touched at the zeitgeist. I am an excellent interviewer and communicator with people with different perspectives and from all types of backgrounds. My many years of producing experience informs my cinematography and editing; I approach what I do in the field and in the edit room with attention to minute details while keeping an eye on the big picture and needs of the production.
I make films to get to know our world, and to go on a journey that is both internal, deep inside, and external, to faraway places and new realities. And I hope to take audiences on that journey with me.
“I am convinced that cinema can convey certain things that no language in the world can translate. For me, it goes back to the Tower of Babel, to before the division into different languages.” - filmmaker Artavazd Peleshyan
